Origanum vulgare ssp.hirtum, (Lamiaceae)

Greek: Ρίγανη Rigani

The species Origanum vulgare ssp.hirtum is internationally known as the Greek oregano (English greek oregano).

It is perennial herb of up to 80 cm. It blooms from June to September-October and harvested in full bloom.

It is the main spice of Greek cuisine. Used in cooking as a seasoning in most dishes.
The essential oil is used as a natural antibiotic in animal farming.
